Cyber Defense Technical Specialist - Reston, VA

Cyber Defense Tecnical Specialist

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing company that was recently awarded Best Cyber Security Company of the Year 2016 by Info Security. We are working with our client Darktrace's executive team to help them expand their Cyber Defense technical team, that will provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the rapidly-evolving cyber security industry. You do not need any prior knowledge, just a notable enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We will provide training, and you will be exposed to various aspects of the organization, including:

•   Proof of Value (POV)/Pilots: Presales planning, scoping of evaluations, with analysis of cyber threat data and detailed forensic reporting of incidents with customers' security teams during early stages of Darktrace deployments. Gaining experience in the technical and commercial aspects of a deal.

•   Cyber Security Analysis: Formulating cyber intelligence reports in support of customer deployments. Observing first-hand the evolution of novel forms of attack and defense.

•   Customer Guidance: Post-deployment architecture planning. Actively contributing to the real-time defense and hardening of a customer's key assets. Direct link to cyber analyst team for knowledge sharing and response action.

•   Product Development: Direct feedback to development teams on product improvements and customer requirements


Qualifications and Skills:

•   Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (2:1 or above (UK) / GPA of 3.2 or above).

•   Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, both verbal and written.

•   Experience and proven ability to work autonomously and in a team in an innovative and fast-paced environment whilst delivering to deadlines.

•   Enthusiasm for innovation, experimentation and self-development in the cyber security field.

 

Training will be given to gain the following experience:

•   Knowledge of networking and security architecture.

•   Experience of cyber security/incident response, security architecture; working towards security certification such as CISSP, GIAC or vendor specific are desirable.

•   Practical experience with network and security devices/systems e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Firewalls, IDS, IPS, SIEM.

•   Experience of programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl, Ruby).

•   Hands-on sys admin skills (Linux and Windows) and experience with network and packet analysis using open source technologies.


Career progression through this program could lead being a Security & Threat Analyst, a Cyber Defense Technology Specialist, a Cyber Defense Technical Account Manager and many more areas. We are looking for recent graduates, and those with 1-3 years of junior experience.
