2017 Business Continuity Intern

At CoBank, our Business Continuity Intern is responsible for assisting with the overall disaster preparedness of the organization. This includes assisting with various test planning, implementation and results compilation including involvement in a bank wide test using the latest in emergency notification technology. Additionally, this intern will learn Business Continuity planning by reviewing CoBank’s recovery plans to ensure they meet company standards. This intern will also have the opportunity to interact with various public/private partnerships as it relates to business continuity (i.e. Greenwood Village police, Office of Emergency Management, etc.). A special project as a Business Continuity intern may include an in depth analysis on CoBank’s Business Continuity Program based on industry standards and guidelines. CoBank interns learn real-life business skills and assist with a variety of projects that have impact on the bank’s operations. This is a paid position for undergraduate and graduate students working toward a degree in Emergency Management, Safety/Disaster Preparedness, Business Continuity, Operational Risk Management or related discipline.

In addition, various training courses are available throughout the summer and a temporary housing allowance is available for qualified interns.

This intern position is located in our Denver office.

Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma and 1-2 years relevant experience or education.
• Currently enrolled in and working toward a degree in Emergency Management, Safety/Disaster Preparedness, Business Continuity, Operational Risk Management or related discipline.
• Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other office equipment.
• Aptitude for learning other software applications.
• Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communications.

Preferred Qualifications
• Basic understanding of emergency management/disaster preparedness concepts.
• Experience in banking or financial services industry.
• Knowledge of cooperative principles and the desire to expand in this area.
