2017 Credit Intern (Electric Distribution)
At CoBank, our Electric Distribution Intern assists with the preparation and analysis of credit actions. This intern will also have the opportunity to spread customer financials, conduct risk rating analysis, determine customer eligibility requirements, and monitor compliance exceptions relating to financial reporting and financial covenant compliance. In addition, this intern may participate in an on-site customer visit for a portfolio client or prospect with a Relationship Manager. A typical project as an Electric Distribution intern may include an in-depth analysis on the impact of distributed generation on CoBank’s Electric Cooperatives. CoBank interns learn real-life business skills and assist with a variety of credit projects that have impact on the bank’s operations. This is a paid position for undergraduate and graduate students working toward a degree in Finance or Accounting.
In addition, various training courses are available throughout the summer and a temporary housing allowance is available for qualified interns.
This intern position is located in our Atlanta office.
Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma and 1-2 years relevant experience or education.
• Currently enrolled in and working toward a degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other office equipment.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to model in Excel.
• Aptitude for learning other software applications.
• Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in banking or financial services industry.
• Basic understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts.
• Knowledge of cooperative principles and the desire to expand in this area.
