TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: MRA Teacher
Reports To: Superintendent, Superintendent’s Designee
Salary: Certificated Teacher Salary
Classification: Teacher
Work Year: 11 Months, 185 Work Days
Work Travel: Independently travel to various Mojave River Academy/Oro Grande School District sites for scheduled District meetings and in-service training.
Supervision: This position is responsible for education and supervision of MRA students.
General Purpose
To plan, organize and implement an instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
· Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active, experiential learning experiences
· Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
· Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities based upon the California State Teaching Standards
· Prepare classroom for class activities
· Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
· Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
· Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
· Use relevant technology to support instruction
· Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
· Create assignments, projects, and assessments (both formative and summative)
· Provide appropriate feedback on work
· Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
· Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
· Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
· Prepare required reports on students and activities
· Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
· Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
· Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
· Perform certain guidance duties including but not limited to student support, advising students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
· Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
· Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
· Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
· Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Job Functions)
· Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Supervises and evaluates Center Administrators assigned by the Regional Director/s.
· Works with the MRA/OGSD Directors Curriculum/Instruction to oversee planning and evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
· Maintains a current knowledge of developments in curriculum and instruction.
· Works with the Center Administrators, Teaching staff and committees to prepare long and short-term goals for the school, including student achievement.
· Works under the direction of the MRA Regional Directors to communicate the vision/mission to school personnel.
· Participates in professional activities to enhance knowledge and skills and shares expertise with colleagues.
· Works with Center Administrators and enrollment to direct marketing efforts as needed to ensure budgeted enrollment.
· Experience in working with and preparing budgets and the ability to read and interpret fiscal reports.

· Independently travel to all Mojave River Academy sites that range from Palm Springs to Bakersfield.
· Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
· Maintain insurability by District Liability Insurance Carrier.
· Gather, organize, analyze, evaluate and interpret data.
· Prepare clear and comprehensive reports.
· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
· Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations to support goals.
· Effectively plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the work of assigned personnel.
· Properly interpret and make decisions in accordance with school district regulations, laws, regulations and policies.
· Recommend improvements in operations, rules, regulations and policies.

· Provide effective district representation at events and meetings.
· Manage, supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff as assigned by the Regional Director/s.

· Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
· Reading printed matter and computer screens.
· Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.
· Bending, twisting, stooping and reaching.

Minimum Qualifications, Credentials, Education and Experience:
Credentials:
· A valid California Teaching Credential that meets professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state. Hold a valid California Drivers License.
Education:
· Bachelors Degree from accredited college(s) or universities.
· Masters degree (preferred but not required).
Experience:
· Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state
and successful student teaching experience. Preferred public school educational experience, charter school education experience, and alternative educational school experience.
· Ability to read, write and speak Spanish (preferred but not required).
