Developing Leadership Program (Operations)

ADS’s Developing Leadership Program gives you the opportunity to quickly apply the knowledge and skills you gained during your college career. Immediately upon starting in the program, you will be a valued member of the plant leadership team, and within your first month you will be participating on key leadership committees, such as the Plant Safety Committee, and leading meaningful, business-impacting projects as a part of the facility’s Operational Excellence team. Through this multi-year rotational program, you will hone key leadership and functional skills in an environment designed to promote rapid career growth.

ADS’s Developing Leadership Program leverages a structured training plan, skilled instructors, mentorship by senior managers and travel to multiple manufacturing facilities to groom your leadership and operations management skills. During your first 9 months, you will serve in the Management Trainee role at one of our 40+ manufacturing facilities as you begin to learn overall plant operations including, safety, quality, service, productivity, and project management. Following successful completion of this first rotation, you will be promoted to Senior Management Trainee and will relocate to another manufacturing facility to further develop your operations and project management skills with the added opportunity to build your business acumen through a focus on financial performance and talent management.

Within 15-18 months of starting in ADS’s Developing Leadership Program, you will be leading your own team as a full-time Supervisor or Manager within a key functional area at one of our 40+ manufacturing facilities nationwide. During this 18 to 24-month timeframe you will continue to receive mentoring from your Developing Leadership Mentor as you prepare for your final developmental assignment: management of global projects under the guidance of one or more corporate teams (Engineering, Human Resources, Inventory, Logistics, Operational Excellence, Purchasing and/or Quality).

While gaining experience through various leadership roles, you will continue to receive support through hands-on and classroom training designed to grow your leadership skills. You will learn how to work with people of differing backgrounds, generations and personalities; how to assess and leverage the talents on your team; how to set clear expectations and manage team performance; how to manage change, conflict and critical conversations; how to develop and coach teams toward extraordinary achievements; and many other aspects of being an ADS leader.
