Fellows go through a rigorous selection process where they are evaluated for academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, a commitment to the community, critical thinking and perseverance, amongst other qualities. We believe that these core competencies are required to drive student achievement and to become life-long leaders who effect systemic change.
In the 2 years of the Fellowship, Fellows are placed in under-resourced schools in 7 cities and are responsible for bridging their students' achievement gap. They will be advocates of the movement and will use their skills of planning, building relationships, perseverance and excellence to impact their school and community. In their second year of teaching, Fellows will be encouraged to undertake a Be The Change Project (BTCP) which widens their impact from their immediate classroom to the school & community of the students.
After the two years of the Fellowship, the Fellows are then inducted into our Alumni Movement. Informed by their experiences and insights, the Alumni Movement works from inside and outside the educational system to effect the fundamental, long-term changes necessary to ultimately realise educational opportunity for all.
