CAD Designer/Project Coordinator

North America’s largest manufacturer of wooden storage structures, playsets and other backyard products is seeking a creative Designer/Project Coordinator at our Monroe, Michigan facility. This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead a variety of backyard products from design/conceptual stage to production. This position requires strong design as well as coordinating and leading product design using 3D AutoCAD and Inventor to model and draft product drawings. You’ll get to lead a design Team, shed prototype building, as well as develop  and coordinate all production documentation. Will also be involved in developing assembly instruction manuals. This person will perform and coordinate all product aspects to ensure successful implementation. 

Description 

A unique and challenging opportunity that requires excellent design, AutoCAD and Inventor skills. Also requires the ability to perform and manage the details for driving products through the development and production process. You will be involved from the onset in the design, 3D CAD, design review and sign-off to the Bill of Materials, instruction manual development, hardware kit development and engineered drawings. Plus, you will also oversee product builds to confirm every aspect is addressed prior to launching. 

Additional duties will be supporting the Production facility, providing product specifications, supporting internal and external personnel for product needs, developing QC standards, vendor and supplier visits

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required. Preferably in Architecture.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage projects and people.
  •

Responsibilities:

  • Design shed or specialty products from concept to final CAD/Inventor models.
  • Lead getting products through the manufacturing facility or from an outside source.
  • Organize project schedule completely with timing and deliverables.
  • Lead Team members through assigned duties to keep projects on track.
  • Report project progress in both project chart form and verbal updates.
  • Develop 3D CAD drawings of product for BOM’s and engineer drawings.
  • Gain a fluent understanding of our engineering database (MAS 200) to develop manufacturing documentation.
  • Develop CAD images for accurate Work Orders for Manufacturing to cut material to.
  • Work with Pack Line personnel to develop pack documentation
  • Oversee a builder for product builds.
  • Provide assembly process to an instruction manual developer and/or check assembly instruction manuals.
  • Develop complete and accurate drawings packages for vendors to quote.
  • Provide technical specifications for marketing literature.
  • Some involvement with customer or Branch engineering requests. Could involve outside engineering firms.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable interacting with building departments.
  • Document processes or product drawings for Quality.
