HR Benefits Intern

IMPORTANT POSITION INFORMATION

This is a temporary position which will be limited to 10 consecutive months or 1,560 work hours (whichever period is shorter) Temporary positions are not eligible for benefits.

There is a possibility that this position may be renewed on an annual basis depending on the organization needs, funding and employee performance, in accordance with the City temporary worker's policy. Successful candidate must complete a phone screen, on-site interview, background check, and drug screening.

 

HR BENEFITS INTERN
Starting Hourly Rate: $14.18

 

Nature of Work: To provide coordination of and operational support for the programs and projects initiated from the Human Resources Services Benefits Team. Assist with general administrative functions including new hire data entry and filing. Assist in collecting and tracking activity credit documentation for the Wellness Incentive Program. Research ideas to develop the Wellness Incentive Program by finding topics/presenters for education classes which accommodate odd shifts of new program participants. Schedule appointments for the City's Flu Shot Clinic. Aid in tracking documentation for dependent audits. Update employee eligibility status on carrier websites. Assist in creating and sending cobra letters. Assist with open enrollment and RFP audits.

Required Qualifications: Must be able to maintain confidentiality and accuracy; demonstrate outstanding customer service; coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines in a timely and accurate manner. Must be detail oriented, organized and schedule work effectively while working under limited supervision, demonstrate strong interpersonal and team skills and work well in a team environment. Must have experience working with computers and software applications used in business settings (e.g., MS Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).

Desired Qualifications: Currently enrolled in courses towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field. 1 year of Human Resources experience preferred.

Work Schedule: This is a 10 month internship; 24 – 32 hours a week with flexible hours available Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
