Christiana Care Health System is in search Candidates to fill future Casual Student Nurse Extern positions that will start on January 16, 2017. Applicants that are hired for the position must attend the following classes, New Employee Orientation, and complete 10 shifts of orientation which are mandatory requirements in order to participate in this program:

1) Must attend New Employee Orientation on January 16, 2017.

2) Must attend Mandatory Orientation for all three days on January 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

3) Must complete 10 shifts of orientation between January 25th and March 8th.

The Student Nurse Extern is a casual position where applicants will be required to work at least 16 hours bi-weekly to work rotating Day/Evening/Midnight shifts. Most departments within Christiana Care are willing to work around students' classes and clinical rotations. Applicants must be available to work 16 hours bi-weekly. Applicants must be available to work any shift (Day, Evening, Midnight), along with working weekends and holidays.

Student Nurse Externs will provide hygiene, comfort measures and selected direct and indirect patient care activities and ancillary duties for pediatric, adolescent and adult patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Note: The Student Nurse Extern Position is an all year round position that is continuous. The position is not for a winter externship only. Please do not apply if you are looking for a summer externship position only.

Requirements:

• Applicants for the position must be enrolled in an Accredited Bachelors of Science Nursing Program with the ultimate goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.
• No Clinical Experience is required for this position regardless of school year classification (i.e. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior).
• Applicants must have a G.P.A of 3.00 or higher.
• Applicants expected graduation date must be May 2017 or later.
