Computer Engineering Internship

Position Summary:
SGA is currently looking for hard working, bright, and energetic undergraduate and graduate students to join our 2018 Summer Internship Program. We have opportunities in Unreal Engine 4 and/or IBM Watson Conversation application, we will also consider candidates who possess skills in Photo-realistic 3D Renderings of Architecture, Particle Systems, Development of Dynamic simulations and scoring matrices. Interns will work on both small and team projects, as well as receive professional development.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Documentation and testing new simulations applications
  • Assessment of new application ideas
  • Research competitor offerings
  • Develop applications (coding, programming)
  • Interview beta testers

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have excellent analytical and math skills, with the ability to work in teams. We are looking for students majoring in Computer Science/Network Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics or recent Spring 2018 graduates
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Computer literacy; proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and Unreal Engine 4 applications
  • Demonstrated work ethic, goal-oriented, and history of academic success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinker, leader, team player, and self-managed learner
  • Required: Game design portfolio (preferably linking to an online portfolio). Please include examples of any game projects you’ve worked on, either independently or as part of your studies, be specific about the part that you played in their creation.

 

Current Project:

  • Phase 1
    • Add IBM Watson Conversation to existing video based simulations. (4 Internships available)
  • Phase 2
    • Develop Gaming based platforms using static mesh photo realistic 3D renderings (4 Internships available) and Particle Systems in an Unreal Engine 4 platform (4 Internships available)
  • Phase 3
    • Create a dynamic simulation based on player actions including a visual and conversational change. (4 Internships available)
  • Phase 4
    • Apply a scoring instrument to grade player based on actions to score against other firefighters in the program, taking the human bias out of the scoring. (4 Internships available)

 

 

This is an unpaid internship from May to September 2018. Interns need to be available to work in a low stress, independent environment. Based on a student's availability and school schedule, internships can begin or end before or after the dates indicated. Applications are accepted for positions until filled.

Work Environment:

This internship will be results oriented. We operate out of a virtual office with flexible schedule. The team leader meets with individual team members in a virtual office three times a week to check status. The team leader is also available for questions as needed with a 4 hour turn around.
