Senior Data Science Analyst

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Data Science Analyst, are to:

 

  • Work with partners in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Sciences, Quality and Process Development to:
    • (a) improve process monitoring and reduce reaction time to potential undesired events
    • (b) perform root-cause analyses involving complex and large data sets
    • (c) apply advanced data analysis and simulation techniques to improve process understanding and recommend process improvements
  • Collect and extract data from manufacturing IT systems and perform the necessary work to prepare the data for analysis;
  • This may involve establishing the context of the data an addressing missing data;
  • May develop scripts or other tools to perform pre-processing of very large data sets;
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses (inferential, descriptive, experimental design, multivariate data analysis and machine learning);
  • Provide technical assessments based on data analysis and process knowledge;
  • Develop tools and applications for enhanced process monitoring;
  • Develop mathematical models to simulate bio-manufacturing processes or cellular functions and behavior;
  • Work jointly with Eningeering & Technology and divisional partners to propose operational or engineering solutions issues identified through mathematical analysis;
  • Document findings in technical reports and/or presentations;
  • Communicate as necessary to realize value for the company and help partners to understand and interpret results and recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D.in Engineering or Science with zero-two years of experience; OR
  • M.S.in Engineering or Science with two to four years of relevant experience; OR
  • B.S.in Engineering or Science with six or more years of relevant experience;
  • Is able to independently develop and implement complex technical solutions and possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Is a subject matter expert in statistics, data-driven modeling and machine learning;
  • Has strong computer programming skills (experience in Python required);
  • Working knowledge of querying databases and experience with mining and pre-processing complex datasets;
  • Experience in developing, evaluating and applying machine learning methods to solve real-world problems in areas such as predictive analytics, pattern recognition, classification and anomaly detection;
  • Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and takes initiative;
  • Is able to learn new technical topics and develop new technical skills quickly;
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Is able to clearly and effectively communicate complex concepts;
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Background or interest in life sciences;
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB programming;
  • Experience with unstructured data;
  • Familiarity or experience with software development lifecycle;
  • Experience with deep learning, big data and cloud computing.
