E&R Industrial Supply Chain Internship
The Supply Chain Internship program at E&R Industrial, a specialty brand of Grainger, is designed to give you hands-on experience in our Supply Chain departments, such as:
Inventory Planning – Determine where to stock inventory and determine inventory stocking levels for hundreds of Grainger locations across the U.S. based on inventory flows and product strategy.
Supplier & Order Performance – Work closely with suppliers to ensure they meet Grainger compliance, regulatory, and customer service requirements. Ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time and to expectations.
DC Operations – Responsible for performance metrics planning, continuous improvement, and developing process to control budgets and capital plans as it relates to the DC network.
Transportation – Partner with carriers and internal Supply Chain stakeholders to optimize freight spend and enhance delivery experience for Grainger’s customers.
Space Management & Network Design – Determine what the future product storage requirements will be in the distribution center network. Design slotting and racking configurations that optimize existing space within the network and/or re-evaluate the overall strategy of the DC network.
Branch Network – Partner with our branch teams on continuous improvement opportunities to reduce cost and better serve our will-call and counter-order customers.
Customer & Competitive Insights – Responsible for evaluating the competitive landscape of the maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) market as well as determining the needs and wants of our customer base.
Global Sourcing – Partner with our exclusive brands team to source Grainger’s private label products from around the world.
Product Management – Determine product category strategy. Select products and suppliers, negotiate product cost, and manage the accuracy of product information.
Product Management Operations – Partner with Product Management to improve upon our existing support processes as they relate to product information, new product introduction, supplier contracts, and online merchandising.
Product Procurement – Responsible for partnering with our Product Management and engineering teams to develop the best product assortment and determine how much products should cost. Negotiate with suppliers to reduce product cost and optimize the portfolio assortment through line reviews.
Each intern has an opportunity to work on a project with significant impact to the business and presents their project to senior leadership at the end of the summer.

Candidate Requirements
Enrolled in college or university as a full-time student
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Strong communication and analytical skills
Passion for learning about and contributing to our business
