Engineering Intern (Summer Only)

H.C. Starck Inc., Coldwater, Michigan is seeking a summer Engineering Intern. This individual will be working under the direction of the Coldwater Process Engineering group to reduce monthly Production Order Deviations.

• The project will be structured around the use of Deviation Reports currently available in SharePoint – Info Tools.
  
• The student will be introduced to the use of Pareto Analysis to identify reoccurring Deviations having the greatest financial impact on the Coldwater facility.
  
• The student will be trained in the use of Action Decks(PDCA’s) as a tool for process improvement.  
  
• The student will interact with Engineering, Production and Accounting personnel in the resolution of Deviations
  
• The student will assist in the determination & implementation of Corrective Measures
  

1.      Establish Deviation report criteria with upper & lower parameters.

2.      Establish criteria for Pareto analysis.

3.      Create PDCA’s based on findings

4.      Verify findings through Accounting group and SAP directly.

5.      Determine root cause(s) behind individual Deviations

a.      Material yields

b.      Manufacturing processes/times

6.      Initiate improvement/corrective measures

a.      Update SAP BOM’s & Routings

b.      Update PWI’s

7.      Validate corrective measures through Accounting Group – Cost Roll
