User Research Internship

User Research Intern

Mira is reinventing the $650 billion life insurance industry, with a unique focus on the “higher risk population”. We use technology to digitalize the buying process and build machine learning powered models using medical, wearables and behavioral big data to enhance risk underwriting. Join Mira on our mission of expanding insurability and protecting American families. User Researchers learn what users need and want from our products and services and evaluate user experience. As a User Researcher, you conduct independent research, analyze real user behavior and work with designers, product managers, and engineers to improve our product features and develop new ones. We are looking for someone to start immediately and be able to commit 10-15 hours per week, paid hourly.  Our offices are in Midtown Manhattan but we will consider remote applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct user studies to gauge the usability of new and existing features.

  • Gather insights about customers from a variety of research methods, such as surveys, interviews and usability studies.

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative results and convey those insights to the appropriate people in the most engaging and actionable manner.

  • Work closely with the product teams to help them use research insights to improve our products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and empathy for users.

  • Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.

  • Relevant work/project experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices.

  • Able to solve open-ended problems and work in a fast-paced startup environment.
