Desktop and Network Support Technician
Select Sires Inc., a world leader in bovine genetics, seeks an experienced, team-oriented Desktop and Network Support Technician to assist staff with technical support and training of desktop and laptop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes installation of, preventive maintenance and repairs on, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Ongoing support includes the diagnosis and resolution of day-to-day problems faced by end users. Training includes developing and disseminating knowledge of custom and packaged software applications and operating systems to end users.
This position also assists in the maintenance and testing of network and telephone infrastructure. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative, troubleshooting skills and good judgment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of computers, peripherals, and software for local and remote users.
- Work with vendor support representatives and other IS staff, as appropriate, to determine and resolve technical problems.
- Perform upgrades and preventive maintenance on systems to ensure longevity.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in computer support, with strong technical and interpersonal skills
- Functional competence in Windows Operating Systems, MS Office, and basic networking skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be able to multi-task, and be self-motivated to learn and take on a variety of responsibilities
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift up-to 30 pounds on occasion
- Clean driving record
