Hospitality Internship

Richland Country Club's Hospitality Internship Program provides real world experience at a premier country club located in Nashville, Tennessee. Our program is tailored to introduce students to the tools and skills they will need to succeed and grow in their hospitality careers.

In our twelve week summer program, students will be give the opportunity to work hands on with members in all food and beverage outlets. Highlighted experiences include proper member engagement, business finance, inventory management, scheduling and food & beverage standards. At the end of the program each student will gain the proper tools to aspire to someday be a Food and Beverage Director.


Hospitality Internship Program

Position Available: Summer 2018

Internship Details: Richland Country Club’s Hospitality Internship Program provides a hand’s on experience throughout every aspect of the Clubhouse Operations. The program is designed to prepare interns for a career path of becoming a Private Country Club Manager in the Hospitality Industry. Interns will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our Department Heads. Interns will participate in Management Education Sessions, Banquet Meetings, and Food and Beverage Meetings. Interns will gain a true understanding of the managerial experience at Richland Country Club.

Requirements:

·  Currently working toward or graduate of a two or four year degree in Hospitality, Business, or Food and Beverage

·       Exceptional communication skills

·       Detailed-oriented, honest, respectful, dedicated, ethical and caring

·       Positive attitude and a good listener

·       Highly motivated and care deeply about creating positive and professional relationships

·       High performer with documented compliments of excellence from Members, Department Heads and /or staff

Rotation Schedule: Richland Country Club makes an effort to expose our interns to as many different types of Club events as possible. Interns will be involved with all Food and Beverage functions to include; weddings, business functions, cocktail receptions, committee meetings, cookouts, birthday parties, wine tastings, a la carte dining, and pool dining. Interns will complete a rotation with our clubs departments including:

·       A la Dining

·       Banquets

·       Casual Dining

·       Beverage Training

·       Pool Service

·       Purchasing and Inventory

Summer Student Project: Each Intern will develop the skills to manage and facilitate a project based opportunity to better service the members. Each project given to the students will help develop there management skills through operation and creative thinking. The students will identify the issue then brainstorm ideas to better improve the service. Once an idea has been put into place, the intern will then facilitate the staff to execute and analyze. Once execution is complete, it will be the interns responsibility to evaluate and adjust the project.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb stairs and lift up to 35lbs daily. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, and kneel frequently. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to work outdoors in hot temperatures. Our Intern candidates must be able to handle fast paced, high end, and sophisticated environment.

Hours: This is a full-time (typically 35-40 hours a week), seasonal position. Daytime, evening, holiday, and weekend work is required as well as the willingness to be flexible with changes to their schedule.

Pay Range: Hourly pay with overtime as applicable. In certain positions commission can be earned as well.

Qualifications:

·        Enrolled in 4 or 2 year hospitality, tourism, business or food and beverage program.  Program will also be open to graduate students pursuing their Masters Degree in the same field.

2018 Goals for Internship

Overall goal is to develop a interns career skills while providing the best experience possible to showcase the Club and the city of Nashville.

Hospitality Intern / Level One

During Richland Country Clubs Level One internship you will be involved with the following activities:

·       A la Carte Casual Dining

·       Pool Service

·       Banquets

·       Golf Turn Restaurant

·       Food Running / Buffet Running

·       Bartending (Over 21 Applicants)

·       Weekly Banquet Meetings

·       Daily Food and Beverage Meetings

·       Preparing lineup Before Dining

·       Shadowing Senior Management

·       Schedule Making

·       POS Training

·       Managing Banquets

·       Weekly Intern Meetings and Learning Sessions

·       Opportunities to be Manager on Duty for shifts

Each Intern will also come up with 3 goals of their own that they hope to learn and execute during the 12 week period.

Each Intern will also submit their binder for review on week 6 and 12.

Local tours of Nashville, TN will be added to program.

By the end of your internship you will have developed the skills to effectively manage and maintain a profitable, well executed Food and Beverage Program.
