Superintendent of Schools Cheyenne

Laramie County School District #1, Cheyenne, Wyoming, is accepting applications for a superintendent of schools. The successful candidate should demonstrate successful teaching, management, administrative and instructional leadership skills and possess high moral character to inspire and lead a school district that expects and supports a comprehensive educational program for its students. Salary will be not less than $180,000 and include a comprehensive benefits package. The successful applicant must live within the district after hire.

Cheyenne, the state capital of Wyoming, is located in the southeast corner of Wyoming. The city is known as the “Magic City of the Plains” and has a population of around 64,000 citizens. The community is an active economic, cultural, and political center. The city celebrates its western history each year with the “Cheyenne Frontier Days.” Cheyenne is a family friendly town with many neighborhood parks and a Greenway path for walking or riding bikes that encompasses a majority of the city. Laramie County Community College is located in the city, and the University of Wyoming is located in Laramie 50 miles to the west. Opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, golfing, and other recreational endeavors are abundant.

Laramie County School District #1 covers western Laramie County, including the City of Cheyenne and the surrounding area. The district serves approximately 14,000 students in 38 schools, including three comprehensive high schools, an alternative high school, three junior high schools, twenty-six elementary schools, three rural schools, and two charter schools. The district offers a comprehensive educational program for students in grades kindergarten through 12. The mission of LCSD1, in cooperation with students, parents, staff, and the community is to guarantee a high-quality education in a safe and orderly environment for all students, inspiring them to become life-long learners and responsible, productive citizens. As a district “of learners for learners”, the LCSD1 maintains values of high expectations, shared responsibility, maximizing learning opportunities, and the human connection. The district is fully accredited by the Wyoming State Board of Education and AdvancED.
