Kindergarten/Grade 1 Dual Language (Spanish) Teacher at Sheridan Elementary School

This position starts August 2018

KINDERGARTEN/GRADE 1 DUAL LANGUAGE (SPANISH) TEACHER

SHERIDAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.        Must be Wisconsin DPI certified as an elementary teacher, grades K-5.

2.        Must be Wisconsin DPI certified (or certifiable) Bilingual elementary teacher, grades K-5.

3.        Additional content area certification in Spanish preferred.

4.        Must be proficient in English and Spanish.

5.        Experience working with bilingual students on either a pullout or in-class basis.

6.        Must have a strong academic preparation in reading, writing, and math instruction.

7.        Experience with computers and application to classroom instruction and assessment.

8.        Strong communication skills.

9.        Ability to work in learning teams.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to work with students in a dual language classroom. Knowledge of instructional needs of students in a bilingual two-way elementary school program. Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and child development. Ability to help English Language Learners and second language learners become bi-literate and bilingual. Interest in integrating technology. Willing to be part of a dynamic professional staff that is dedicated to providing a quality-learning environment for every student. Experienced/ability to work in a self-contained classroom. Knowledgeable about methods of assessing ELL student proficiency levels and capable of maintaining complete and accurate student records. Able to work as a team member with the dual language English teacher. Commitment to working closely with parents/families. Desire to be part of a professional learning community.
