Healthcare Industry Research & Investment Banking Associate

Overview: We are currently seeking a healthcare industry research associate to work within an investment banking platform.  This individual will have a top tier postgraduate science or medical degree, must be passionate about science/medicine and have the ability to apply his/her knowledge and skills base in an investment banking environment. The associate will focus on building scientific/medical analytical content, concomitantly playing an important role on the firm’s advisory team, supporting an appropriately staffed team in a broad range of transactions including; mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and capital markets transactions.  The associate will provide deliverables that are relied upon by our senior bankers to help our clients and can expect to receive a high level of responsibility.  This individual must enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment that is results-driven and community oriented.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·        Conducting scientific, therapeutic and general healthcare sector research

  • Perform deep scientific analysis on pipeline programs and platforms and presenting findings in written and PowerPoint formats

·        Performing financial and valuation analyses

o  Financial analyses include creating detailed financial models used for valuation and other financial analysis (DCF, LBO, M&A, accretion/dilution, comparable company and transaction analysis)

·        Creating business profiles

·        Preparing industry overviews on subsectors within the healthcare industry

·        Preparing marketing documents

·        Conducting extensive financial and industry due diligence to evaluate the risk/return parameters of a transaction

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

·        Outstanding analytical skills

·        Ability to conduct deep primary research with industry executives, physicians and legal consultants

·        Applicants with previous healthcare equity research experience are encouraged to apply

·        Detail-oriented

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Ability to work autonomously as well as on a team

·        Excellent judgement and character

·        Proven ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)

·        Commitment to being a team player and contributing to the MTS culture

Qualifications:

·        Must have a Ph.D. in a life-science related field or an MD from an accredited college or university

·        Strong desire to work in the investment banking industry

·        Series 63 and 79 licensed preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

·        Must obtain Series 7 and 63 within 6 months of employment
