Staff Engineer

Applied Science, Inc. (ASI) is a civil/environmental consulting firm that has been operating for over 35 years in the Detroit Metro area. ASI specializes in providing excellent and state-of-the-art civil and environmental engineering services for large and small water supply, water resource and wastewater infrastructure projects. ASI has extensive experience in the computational modeling of the flows in water transmission/distribution systems, sewers and tunnels, pumping stations, forcemains, and the liquid and sludge streams at water and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The engineers at ASI are experts in this field and have successfully provided services on numerous projects including watershed studies, streambank restoration, floodplain reviews, pumping station design, and treatment plant design for water, wastewater and sludge. ASI also specializes in transient and surge analysis in existing and proposed tunnels, relief sewers and forcemains, and has developed operational control strategies and designed surge control facilities for these systems.
ASI is a small firm with a current staff of 22 people located in the Southfield, Michigan office. We are presently looking for a full time, entry level candidate that is interested in the field of water resources engineering and who has a strong background in hydraulics.
• Candidate must have a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or obtaining a degree in Spring 2023
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer skills and useful knowledge of MS/Word and Excel required
• Majority of work to be completed in the office environment but may involve regular field assignments that require physical labor
• Coursework or experience in hydraulics and modeling is advantageous
• Authorized to work in the United States
