Transit Planner (Mid-Level)
The Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS) of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking a mid-level transit planner. This individual will be involved in a variety of projects, which could include transit planning, fare studies, Title VI analysis and reporting, suburban-mobility studies, capital-investment studies, first- and last-mile studies, environmental-justice analyses, and surveys.
Qualified candidates must have:
- A master’s degree in transportation planning, urban/regional planning, engineering, or a closely related field
- Three or more years of experience in transportation planning, including transit and transportation policy issues
- Project management experience
- Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative
- Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and/or database skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information into concise, well-organized narratives
- The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
Skills in the following areas are desirable, but not required:
- Supervising project team members
- Developing and maintaining client relationships
- Geographic information systems
- Public process
- Data visualization
- Knowledge of the Boston region and MBTA
