Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Intern

Position: Continuous Improvement Intern

Reporting To: Director of Distribution

Location: Canton, MI 48188

Job type: Employee, Full Time

Classification: Non-Exempt


Basic Responsibility

 The Continuous Improvement Intern’s duties will include a variety of tasks to support the improvement of manufacturing processes within the newly-open Michigan facility. Typical duties may include: creation of assembly work instructions, development of basic cell layouts, 5S implementation tools, development of jigs, fixtures or tooling to improvement assembly efficiencies, development of KPIs and other visual management tools, etc.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate an exceptional commitment to safety, attention to detail, sound judgment, strong work ethic and a very positive attitude.   Previous work experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting is a plus.

General Requirements and Experience:

  • High School Diploma and some course work completed towards industrial or manufacturing engineering degree, or equivalent
  • Be an active participant in a "hands-on" work environment
  • Ability to lead and influence behavior
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principals
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency with MS Office suite; ability to create basic layout

Physical Requirements
