Communications Associate

The Hatcher Group, a communications firm that works on progressive social change, seeks a full-time associate in Bethesda. Candidates must have outstanding writing, editing, media and social media skills.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and one to three years of strong relevant work experience. Candidates should be highly organized, detail oriented and passionate about issues, such as K-12 education, poverty and social justice. Candidates must have excellent skills in Microsoft Office and web research.

The candidate also should be a self-starter and team player with good people skills and a strong work ethic. The candidate should be able to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects. The candidate should be a self-directed learner, curious, and have a good sense of humor.

Job Duties

  • Media and advocacy outreach
  • Writing press releases and media advisories
  • Writing feature stories and content for web sites
  • Researching and creating databases and media lists
  • Social media plans, outreach and tracking
  • Event planning
  • Web site updating
  • Preparation of reports and media briefing packets
  • Administrative duties
