Insulation Physical Properties Lab Associate Engineer

The physical properties lab associate engineer is a key execution role in the physical properties testing lab. The physical properties lab associate engineer will execute work in key testing, test method development, and fundamental testing knowledge areas. Areas include, and are not limited to, fiberglass, mineral wool, foam, foamglass products and systems.

Reports to: Physical Properties Lab Leader

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Demonstrates an unconditional commitment to safety (20%)

  • Implements a personal safety action plan and review with leader
  • Leads and participates in regular safety meetings and ensures rigorous compliance to standard safety procedures and OC corporate policies.

Testing Expert (60%)

  • Plans and executes day to day testing required to support the business
  • Partners with technical, manufacturing, and business partners to understand and execute on testing required to support business priorities and needs
  • Identifies appropriate testing and collaborates with partners to determine amount of material needed
  • Identifies opportunities to improve/develop test methods for safety, data requested, or test method improvements.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement for work flow, safety, or other areas to improve overall workflow in the lab.

Project Collaboration (20%)

  • Part of key project team as physical testing liaison to identify key testing needs and planning
  • Provides guidance and insight on appropriate physical properties testing lab can do internally and externally – acts as the physical properties testing steward for the project team
  • Provides an assessment of data and uses that to guide direction of future testing
  • Applies statistical analysis to interpret results, demonstrating a clear understanding of the results and providing testing expertise to guide the project and future work  

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering
  • Up to 25% travel required

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Statistical analysis
  • Test method development
  • Gage R&R
