Engineer - Spacecraft Systems


The Space Dynamics Lab is seeking experienced and organized Spacecraft Systems Engineers for small satellite programs. The Spacecraft Systems Engineers are responsible for the architecture, technical trades, risk tracking, requirements tracking, and the technical progress and execution of the satellite program. They must have the ability to understand the customer’s vision and work with the team to translate into a technical solution, work with program management to ensure technical requirements and performance are achieved, oversee and lead groups of small (<5) to medium (<25) teams of engineers, support interactions with customers, and provide technical support to related proposal efforts.

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in an engineering background
  • BS degree in a technical area
  • 4 years experience as a technical lead with system-level responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to present clearly and succinctly to customers
  • In-depth familiarity with spacecraft requirements and subsystems
  • Experience with space hardware development
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • 15+ years of relevant spacecraft systems engineering
  • In-depth familiarity with small satellites (<150kg), systems requirements and subsystems
  • Understanding of space environment
  • Understanding of risks and risk mitigations for spaceflight systems
  • Experience with military programs
  • Current Top Secret clearance SCI with SSBI
