Special Education Teacher - Autism

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
2. Plans and provides a program of study that, as much as possible, is research and data based, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.  Maintains as appropriate strong ABA base.
3. Writes daily lesson plans based on IEPs that include objectives, and activities to support those objectives.
4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
5. Demonstrates adequate control over student behavior, writes FBAs, BIPs, and adjusts according to data.
6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of IEP goals and special education program, established clear objectives for all lessons, units, and communicates these objectives to students with accommodated support as per IEP.
7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
8. Plans lessons that will reflect goals and objectives from the district or alternate extended state curriculum standards guide.
9. The teacher selects, develops, and employs appropriate evaluative techniques with regard to impartiality consistency, and objectivity.
10. Maintains objective information tracking the learning performance of students on a regular basis.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
12. Maintains timely, accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
13. Evaluates students a number of times or according to IEP to make an accurate appraisal at the end of the grading period.
14. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develops classroom rules and procedures following PBIS and IEP and district guidelines, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
15. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with other supervisors, evaluates their job performance.
16. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, and works collegially with special education consultants and providers.
17. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
18. Complies with building and district policy.
19. Maintains a positive working relationship with the school staff, parents, and community.
