Collections Intern, Oral History

 

Job Summary:

The Academy Oral History Projects Department invites current students of moving image archive studies or library science to apply for the Oral History Collections Summer Internship. We are seeking an organized and enthusiastic Intern to assist the Oral History Projects department in the development of a large preservation and access initiative specifically for oral histories with filmmakers. The focus will be in preparing audiovisual interviews that have been deposited at the Academy Film Archive for future access. For more information on these collections, please click here.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assist Sr. Archivist with assessing and processing collections                  

·         Process legacy records (paper & electronic)

·         Assist with item and carrier-level cataloging in Adlib

·         Inventory access copies of audiovisual materials

·         Timecode indexing of interviews from the Visual History Program collection

·         Gather images and highlight clips

·         Photo cataloging and curation

·         Write interview summaries, abstracts and bios, and collection profiles

·         Assist with organization and addition of controlled vocabulary terms specific to motion picture crafts

·         Assist user testing of PST: LA/LA website

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

·         Currently enrolled in a degree program for moving image archive studies or library science

·         Interest in and/or experience cataloging

·         Familiarity with spreadsheets (including Excel and Google Docs)

·         Experience with data entry and file management

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent problem solving, multitasking, and project management skills
