Electronics Engineer

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following items:

 Vehicle Electrical Architecture

    • Support a Sr. Electronics Engineer in developing the vehicle integration strategy for electrical systems
    • Assist in defining architectures for power generation, management, and storage
    • Aid in CAN integration with vehicle communication systems
    • Communicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
  • System Hardware Specification
    • Design wiring harness schematics per automotive and MIL-STD specifications
    • Work with and assist electrical lab in building harnesses
    • Research, select, and source sensors, actuators, motors, energy storage, and other hardware
    • Communicate mechanical requirements of system to project design staff
  • System Integration and Testing
    • Assist in the build and integration of the electric system into the vehicle
    • Interface with suppliers to identify and procure parts
    • Troubleshoot electrical issues ranging from harnessing to controller states
    • Process and analyze performance and test data
  • Software Development
    • Support algorithm development in Simulink using a rapid prototype environment
    • Integration and build of prototype systems in development vehicles
    • Software calibration and validation in test vehicles

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following areas will be assigned as required.

  • Interaction with current & potential customers regarding Pratt & Miller systems

  • Planning & program management on internal and customer projects

  • Education / training

  • Provide feedback on product needs, processes and future training

  • The candidate must be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team 

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    Desired Education and Training

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

     

    Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Vehicle electronics architecture and wiring schematic design experience

    • Military, motorsport and commercial standards for electrical systems and interfaces beneficial

  • Wire harness layout and hands-on build experience

    • Mentor Graphics VeSys Design/ VeSys Harness, PTC Creo Cabling, Visio

    • Able to work well with electronic build technicians

  • Data acquisition hardware and analysis experience

 

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience

  • Knowledge of automotive, defense or motorsports industries

    • Electric and hybrid vehicle exposure beneficial

    • Autonomous, by-wire systems or vehicle robotics exposure beneficial

  • Rapid Prototype Software Development Tools for Embedded Systems

    • MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow

    • Motohawk

    • Vector CANape/CANalyzer

  • Communication protocols (CAN, LIN, RS485, SPI, Wireless 802.11, DSRC)

  • Mechatronic component knowledge (sensors, actuators, energy storage)

  • Experience identifying controller hardware I/O and computational requirements

     

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Office Environment

  • Travel up to 10% 

     

    Other Requirements:

    This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements.  Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
