Requirements Analyst/Developer

(HPI), a private non-profit corporation, is one of the largest freestanding behavioral healthcare agencies in the area. HPI, accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Michigan, provides a broad array of mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to individuals of all ages.

Hegira Programs, Inc. is seeking an action oriented, pro-active Requirements Analyst/Developer to join our technology team!

Our Ideal Candidate must have documented experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PHI -- desired experience with Netsmart and Avatar.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The Requirements Analyst/Developer shall have a degree in Information Technology and a minimum of five years’ experience with working knowledge of the healthcare industry and specialization in the software development lifecycle for Electronic Health Records (EHR) software. Strong experience gathering requirements, as well as the ability to implement the requirements and roll out changes to the user community are required. Strong database, SQL commands language, and reporting are also required. Experience managing 3rd party vendors is required. Experienced with Netsmart’s Avatar and Crystal Reports are a major plus. Certifications or exposure to SCRUM or other Agile development methodologies are also a plus. The Requirements Analyst/Developer shall have reliable transportation to adequately ensure multiple site IT support and coverage.

LOCATION: Livonia, MI (easy access on/off I-96 at Newburgh)

STATUS: Full-Time; Mon-Fri business hours (8:30am-5pm) and off hours as needed

COMPENSATION: Dependent on education/experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical:

  • Proactively work to identify problems and solutions to continuously improve the EHR user experience.
  • Work with the user community to identify needs and keep a prioritized project listing.
  • For each user community need, work with the users to understand their needs, the technology, development, and processes required to meet the user’s needs, and document the need and proposed solution into the prioritized list.
  • Keep EHR system patching up-to-date.
  • Develop and implement patching and new functionality testing protocol involving both IT and user testing.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a corporate repository for all EHR related training materials.
  • Assist in developing training materials for all upgrades and deliver training as required.
  • Develop and test all reports and KPI modules.
  • Work with outsourced vendors and implementation specialists to keep their efforts aligned with the corporate requirements.
  • Support and troubleshoot EHR related issues.
  • Work with other IT staff to bring quick resolutions to all issues.
  • Develop reports and KPI queries as requested, in-line with the prioritized project listing.
  • Follow all Hegira corporate HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintain proficiency and understanding of the overall EHR system, its modules, SQL, Crystal Reports, and all software (3rd party) needed to support the EHR environment.
  • Maintain proficiency and understanding of the changes in software development methodologies while working to integrate a solution that best fits Hegira.
  • Maintain proficiency and understanding of the changes in the training approaches to determine and integrate a solution that best fits Hegira.
  • Available for any additional responsibilities and assignments as determined by the Chief Information Officer.

  • Work with IT staff to share knowledge, mentor, and assist with troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Participate in training to maintain and further understanding of information systems.
  • Provide training to HPI users as necessary.
  • Collaborate with users to provide solutions to business problems.
  • Understand customers’ needs and provide excellent customer service.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have adequate visual acuity to interact with the electronic systems and accurately input data.
  • Must be able to lift computer equipment in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of work shift.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is required.
