Spring Intern, Center for Resilience

Job Summary:

Our interns are an integral part of our team. With a small group, our projects are all-hands-on-deck and we encourage interns to actively engage in the formulation of events, publications, and overall Center strategies. The Adrienne Arsht Center for Resilience is seeking a motivated intern to join the team

This position will expose the candidate to all aspects of planning policy events, the writing process for publications and articles, the proposal process for developing projects, and creating strategic initiatives within a think tank. Given its flat management system, Resilience Center interns have daily exposure and interaction with the directors and the rest of the staff. With the Adrienne Arsht Center for Resilience in operation for less than a year, the intern will be encouraged to provide new ideas and recommendations of how to build on the Center’s foundation.

The positions are unpaid, but candidates gain valuable skills, experience, knowledge, and contacts in the Washington, DC international policy community. A monthly metro reimbursement is offered, along with interview and resume workshops, briefings with our Military and State Department Fellows, as well as other senior-level staff.

The Resilience Center is looking for a candidate who can start immediately.

• Research, compile, and create a comprehensive outreach list.
• Conduct research to support the activities of Center.
• Draft memos, blog posts, and articles for publication.
• Handle various elements for program events.
• Draft formal correspondence to government officials and invitations for events.
• Take notes at Council roundtables and strategy sessions for program archives.

Requirements:
• Graduate students preferred. Applications will be accepted from undergraduates at the junior year level or recent graduates as well.
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Excellent English written and oral skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

International applications are welcome but candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Internship applicants are responsible for any costs associated with the visa sponsorship.
