Summer BVU Civic Engagement VISTA (AmeriCorps)
Summer BVU Civic Engagement VISTA member duties include:
The selected candidate will be responsible for Buena Vista Universities (BVU)
summer food pantry program. In addition, they will also research and develop
specific aspects of our Education for Service Scholars program. Responsibilities include but are not limited
to:
· Serve as a site coordinator for all three summer food pantries.
· Serve as a liaison to the neighborhoods where the pantries are located and work within neighborhoods to market them
· Work with partner organization staff, university staff, and volunteers to deliver weekly produce
· Develop a system to track how much food is donated at the pantries.
· Develop training and logistical support for students with the Education for Service Scholars programs
· Assist staff with the delivery of other weekly programs, events, and activities related to the Education for Service Scholars Program

What you bring to the table:
• Ability to commit to a two month term of service starting May 30, 2018.
• Ability to work comfortably with people, systems, and technology.
• A positive, “can-do” attitude
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to provide own transportation to various pantry locations and partner
organizations is
preferred.
Your time commitment.
• This is a full-time, two month program commitment starting 5/30/2018
• VISTA members are allowed to hold outside employment if it does not conflict
with their
VISTA duties.
