Engineering Intern
The Village of Winnetka's Water & Electric Department is seeking student applicants for the temporary position of Engineering Intern. This is position is expected to begin work in late-May and continue through August (approximately 10 to 12 weeks). The Engineering Intern will be responsible for supporting the Water & Electric Department in the planning, design and administration of the water and electric distribution systems. This internship is designed to promote knowledge of water and electrical distribution systems.
Primary Duties:
- Develop and maintain asset registries for water and electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain municipal contact list.
- Develop and administer municipal surveys.
- Assist with CAD drawing updates.
- Assist with the digitization of Department records and processes.
- Assist with field inspections.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Full-time student of sophomore status or higher pursuing a degree in Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Working knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access; GIS systems; and ability to learn other software programs.
- Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.
- Valid driver's license.
Hourly Rate: $15.00/hr.
