2018 Camp Manager
Job Description
As Camp Manager, you will oversee all students and counseling staff to ensure their safety and well-being while at camp. Under your direction, the counseling staff will work as a team to provide the best experience possible for our students. The role of Camp Manager requires great flexibility and a willingness to step in and help wherever needed.
Primary requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:
Student Oversight
- Oversee the counselors in resolving the needs/concerns of students
- Communicate with parents
- Facilitate daily announcements
- Lead opening day registration and closing day check-out
- Oversee the planning and facilitating of on and off-camp activities
- Oversee student transportation
Counselor Oversight
- Oversee the Head Counselor and Camp Counselors in their roles (see counselor application for more information)
- Facilitate counselor orientation and training
- Oversee daily/weekly meetings with counseling staff
- Assist in the coordination of counselor side jobs
- Update the supervision schedule
Administrative Duties
- Oversee registration software (CampDoc) and student documents
- Assist with the planning and running of events held on camp (concerts, fundraisers, 5K, etc.)
- Ensure that all safety drills are completed and counselor files are complete as required by the New York State Department of Health
- Assist in the set up and tear down of camp
General Information
Dates
The full date requirements of the Camp Manager include remote work from April 15 – June 7 and require you to reside on camp from June 8 – August 15. This is illustrated as follows:
- April 15 – June 7: Camp planning (remote work, low hours)
- June 8 – 10: Counselor orientation prep (on camp)
- June 10 – 17: Pre-camp set-up and counselor orientation
- June 17 – July 14: Junior Session
- July 14 – July 17: Intersession Break
- July 17 – August 12: Senior Session
- August 12 – August 15: Post-camp teardown
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for the Camp Manager position, the New York State Department of Health requires 24 weeks of previous experience working at a children’s summer camp and to be at least 26 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
Compensation
$7,000 (neg) plus room and board for the summer
