Historic Restoration Intern

Job Title: Historic Restoration Intern

Job Description:
Sitka Fine Arts Camp, a leader in arts education, provides interdisciplinary summer programs for
kids from around the US and world. Our programs including visual art, music, theater, dance, writing,
and Alaska Native Arts have been recognized by both the White House and the National
Endowment for the Arts for excellence and innovation in arts education and community building. This
is a valuable opportunity for applicants interested in working in arts administration or technical
productions.

College students and recent graduates have the opportunity to become involved on the Sheldon
Jackson Campus through our Historic Restoration program. Interns work as a team with a
construction foreman, learning new skills and contributing to the future of a historic campus. Projects
will take place all over campus. Examples of past projects include work on Richard H. Allen
Memorial Hall, a historic building that was listed as one of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic
Places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 2001, it was designated a national historic
landmark. Thanks to the work of volunteers, staff, contractors, and past interns, Allen Hall is now
fully renovated, complete with a theater, two dance studios, and a hospitality room.
Interns live on campus in dormitories and meals are provided. Evenings and three-day weekends
are spent out on the local hiking trails, engaging in community events, and exploring Sitka, Alaska.

Eligibility: College students and recent graduates. No carpentry experience required.
Application deadlines:
April 15, 2018. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis after April 15 until the positions are
