Marketing & Business Development Intern

Remote Marketing Interns, Business Development Interns and Market Research Associates/Intern applicants with a strong achievement and interest in fields such as Marketing, Market Research, Statistical Analysis, and Social Sciences with a focus in technology and healthcare are preferred.  90% of top performing interns in 2015-2017 were extended positions with Black Book upon completion or internship and/or graduation.

Black Book internship positions outside of the Tampa, Florida region are virtual/remote. Local candidates will have the opportunity to work in the Tampa offices approximately two days per week. You will not be required to relocate or report to a central Black Book office setting. You must possess your own devices: cell phone, computer, and reliable internet access.

The Black Book Research Associate aka "Intern" will be responsible for working independently and with team members to conduct and/or support the production of primary research projects from start to finish among key stakeholders.

 Black Book seeks intern candidates in the areas of Research/Statistics, Online Journalism, and Graphics and Web Services, Project Management, Event Management, Surveying/Polling, Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, Investment Banking, Venture Capital, and Marketing Management. We carefully try to match your career goals to current and planned initiatives to provide the Intern with opportunities to experience meaningful and actual projects within the four month period.

We accept internship applications all year for all semesters, but will consider candidates on internship entry points not associated with college term calendars.

In review, Black Book internships are virtual positions and uncompensated, supervised by senior management and eligible for college credit. Request college credit approvals and authorizations prior to signing your internship agreement. 


Intern Objectives


• Candidate will learn about the client side of market research in a fast-paced environment. Spring interns will have the opportunity to also work on Black Book programs national conference events such as HIMSS18, HFMA 2018 and AHIMA '18.

 

• Candidates must be able to work independently most of the internship. Directions will be provided and guidance from our partners, but these are opportunities for self-reliant achievers.

• Interns will be given special projects to handle with company president's oversight.  Interns are provided broad exposure to both healthcare and research industry projects and given significant independence in developing and producing their internship experience.

 

• Interns will work for an established international Brand under the direct instruction of one of the firm's partners. Hours that are not required in the central office setting can be flexibly set to accommodate the intern's personal schedule including days, evenings or weekends. Many projects can be performed independently at the intern's home office, supported by occasional on-site office hours/days.

 

 Graduate market research students and undergraduate juniors and seniors who are considering market research as a career are encouraged to apply for college credit. Black Book works with college internship coordinators to obtain credits.

Desired GPA: 2.75, but will consider a highly ethical, motivated self-starter with a lesser GPA.

 

Required /Preferred Skills

Bachelor's candidate or completed Bachelor's degree in statistics, marketing, business administration, journalism, technology, or similar subjects.


Preferably a master’s degree candidate in a traditional, on campus, accredited graduate school program, or recent grad.



Needed Competencies

• Basic familiarity with market research techniques (qualitative and quantitative)

 

• Interest in the healthcare industry and technology/services sectors, as well as marketing and business development in the medical/pharmaceutical sectors.

 

• Web site maintenance competencies, prefer web design and new project development skills

 

• Social media savvy: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Hootsuite, Symplur business social media

 

• Content writing, blog and press release support

 

• Online search skills focusing on vendor data and competitive research


• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to handle multiple projects at all times

• Ability to meet deadlines

• Desire to be innovative and contribute to team’s success

  

Desired Skills & Experience

• Well versed and experienced with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


• Familiar with software which produces and develops graphics:  charts, tables, research report layout

 

• Prior course work (or participation in marketing/research student organizations) or job experience in similar position

 

• Internet research skills are mandatory.

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

·         Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate an idea to a diverse audience

·         Strong analytical skills

·         Intellectual curiosity and the ability to see the big picture while working at ground level

·         A Master's or Bachelor's degree,  or university junior or senior completing bachelor's degree program with courses requiring heavy data analysis, business communications, or marketing.
