Production Control Engineer

 

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MUST meet minimum qualifications to be considered)

Bachelor degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management or 8 years of engineering experience.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be highly motivated towards continuous improvement.  Must be flexible to change projects and have the ability to multi-task as priorities change.  Be flexible with working hours, as needed, to support project coverage and base month activities, including weekends periodically.  Will often be involved in multiple projects at the same time and will need to prioritize.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Visio) and Draftsight.  Self-directed with good organizational and communication skills.  Analytical ability to study current system, identify problems, create improvement plans and influence management to implement proposed solutions.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Lean manufacturing implementation and support plant wide to improve efficiency and reduce lead time to save space.  Must possess time study skills for line balancing and bottleneck identification.  Ability to apply the 3 types of standardized work based on the environment.  Ability to utilize standardized work improvement procedure based on type.  Develop and design tools, jigs, flow racks, and miscellaneous improvement items to resolve manufacturing problems and improve OA (Operational Availability).    Support special projects such as new product introduction, productivity improvements, defect reduction, capacity improvements, changeover improvement, and area layouts.  Maintain documentation regarding current fiscal year ef (Excellent Factory) activities and develop plans for 3 year EF activity plan.  Assist with departmental G&O's and budget planning.  Periodic training and benchmarking trips to affiliated companies.  Record and distribute meeting minutes.  Develop and prepare presentations to all levels of management including monthly EF executive meeting.  Aggressive schedules will be maintained and must be willing to accept responsibility.  Have an understanding of TS16949 / ISO 14001. Ability to complete capacity, capability, and forecasting studies.  Ability to understand and apply the concepts of Just-In-Time.  

 

PREFERENCES

Accept responsibility for own actions and have a sense of urgency.  Prefer candidate to have a good understanding of lean manufacturing and have the ability to apply these concepts to all applications including production, warehouse and the supply chain.  Experience with simulation software and VBA is a plus.   Experience with various functions of CIGMA and data extraction techniques.

                                                                                                                                                                                 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job you may be asked to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift or carry component parts weighing up to 35 pounds-lifting parts in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist, work on the production line for short periods of time, use hands to handle or feel parts, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, frequent phone use and typing.  The work environment will vary from an open office setting to a production environment.
