Linux Distribution Maintainer

One of our projects requires building and maintaining a custom Linux distribution targeting end users in the financial sector. We took a stripped-down version of Fedora, enhanced its security, and installed open source blockchain-related apps. Now we are looking for a Linux systems engineer capable of taking this project to the next level by making an open-source project of it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of contributors to add new features and fix bugs
  • Supervise test procedures to improve stability
  • Maintain a custom repository of third-party open source tools
  • Coordinate open-source efforts with the technical needs of the company and our customers
  • Compile and publishing system images
  • Maintain documentation

Deep Understanding

  • IT security
  • RHEL derivatives or other Linux distributions
  • Deterministic compilation/reproducible builds
  • Package management systems such as rpm, deb, or similar
  • Git

General Requirements

  • Fluent English. We are an international team and most of the business is conducted in English. You need to be able to speak and write fluently.
  • Background in IT or Computer Science.

  • Most of our code is open source and your contribution will be properly attributed.
  • You will be hired as a contractor with a choice of how and when you want to get paid.
