Coordinator of Instructional Services

The following administrative vacancy exists in the

Sheboygan Area School District.

COORDINATOR OF INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES

STUDENT AND INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES

The Sheboygan Area School District has a position available for a 100% Coordinator of Instructional Services – English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages.

 

Reports To:              Assistant Superintendent of Student and Instructional Services

 

Contract Length:    260 days, year-round position

 

Certification:            Director of Instruction (5010) and/or Principal (5051) or alternative qualifications the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Experience:                Successful building-level administrative leadership desired, with teaching experience as an English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and/or World Languages educator also preferred.

 

Works With:            Student and Instructional Services Team, Principals, School Staff, Building and District Level Committees, Literacy Coaches and Interventionists, Data-Driven Instructional Coaches, Parents, Community Members

 

Purpose of Position:

·     To provide leadership for the development and implementation of district-wide, high quality assessment, curriculum and instruction of English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages programming.

·     To ensure the highest-quality, culturally-responsive literacy programming to support the individual needs of students throughout the district.

·     To ensure a visible presence and rigorous learning opportunities that support student engagement in English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages experiences.

·     To promote a culture of continuous improvement that advances culturally-responsive practices leading to the highest quality instruction and learning, supporting all students to be prepared for their futures.

·     To ensure curriculum aligns to National College and Career Readiness indicators.

·     To help build a positive school community that values and promotes inclusive education practices.

 

Responsibilities:

·     Staff Leadership:

o   Provides leadership and direction to English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages instructors.

o   Provides leadership to literacy coaches/interventionists and data-driven instructional coaches.

o   Coordinates and supervise district-level committees in areas related to job duties.

·     Quality Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction:

o   Provides a vision for the development and refinement of high-quality, culturally-responsive standards, curriculum and assessments.

o   Develops procedures or methods for analysis of assessment data in the areas of English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages and works with staff to improve student performance through program and instructional improvement efforts.

o   Reports student performance results to the broader school community.

o   Coordinates program evaluations.

o   Provides leadership with the implementation of curriculum changes.

o   Serves as a resource person in areas of expertise.

o   Assists teaching staff in coordinating new assessment components accompanying new curriculum and instructional materials adoptions.

o   Disseminates information about model programs.

·     Capacity Building:

o   Visits schools and classrooms and facilitates staff and departmental meetings to support high-quality instructional programs at all levels.

o   Facilitates the sharing of innovative ideas and expertise.

o   Works with literacy coaches, data-driven instructional coaches, principals, and teachers on data collection, data analysis, instructional planning, techniques and problem-solving, and cultural competency.

o   Identifies, develops and coordinates staff development opportunities as it relates to assessment analysis, curricular needs, and instructional best practices.

o   Works closely with schools, leadership and committee teams to meet staff development needs.

o   Actively develops, facilitates and engages in and with the District’s continuous school improvement efforts and activities.

·     Program Management:

o   Serves as liaison person for assessment, curriculum, and instruction related needs supporting continuous school improvement.

o   Provides leadership in developing program coordination across the district.

o   Assists with the preparation and management of budgets for designated programs and projects.

o   Develops project proposals, writes grants and develops partnerships to support continuous improvement efforts.

o   Oversees the district’s “Seniors in Schools” program.

·     Other:

o   Related tasks as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

·     Essential Competencies/Qualifications:

o   Successful building-level administration experience desired.

o   Knowledge and experience with English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages educational best practices.

o   Effective interpersonal skills.

o   Knowledge of effective professional development and coaching strategies with adults.

o   Knowledge of district and school operations and practices.

o   Knowledge of community resources and existing partnerships supporting English Language Arts, Music, Social Studies, and World Languages programming.

o   Knowledge and experience with continuous school improvement processes.

o   Skill in collection, analysis, and use of data for decision-making (WISEdash, STAR, ACT, F&P, Clearinghouse, College/Career Readiness, etc.).

o   Effective oral and written communication skills.

o   High level of organization and project management skills.

o   Commitment and ability to act with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.

o   Must be trained in Professional Development Coaching within the first three years of employment.
