Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) Assistant (Nursing)

SUMMARY:
Works closely with the CSC Coordinator, Director of Nursing, nursing faculty and students to carry out the accountabilities and services provided in the college’s Clinical Simulation Center (CSC).

Part-time position involving assisting faculty and students in the CSC for 16 to 18 hours a week.

Position is posted until filled.  Review of applications will begin 8/21/17.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists nursing faculty in the functions of the CSC.
  2. Assists students in correct usage of electronic media and procedure specific equipment.
  3. Provides learning modules to students with faculty supervision.
  4. Prepares simulation scenario stations as needed following specific procedural objectives.
  5. Demonstrates competent usage of simulation equipment.
  6. Observes and supervises return demonstration of clinical skills by the students.
  7. Identifies educational needs of students.
  8. Provides remediation for clinical skills as directed by faculty.
  9. Maintains supply inventory in the CSC.
  10. Maintains educational resource materials, lab equipment and supplies, and recommends acquisitions for program needs.
  11. Maintains competency in clinical skills.
  12. Participates in the development and implementation of departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; recommends changes to departmental procedures as necessary.
  13. Prepares periodic evaluative reports on the department’s performance; prepares departmental documents and reports as required.
  14. Attends and/or facilitates various internal committee/task force meetings as assigned; performs related tasks as required.
  15. Works collaboratively with faculty, administrators and staff members.
  16. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, strategic and service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures, and compliance guidelines.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Effective presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
  • Analytical ability to identify and resolve a variety of issues or challenges in an effective and timely manner.
  • Must be familiar with laddered nursing education concepts and health technology programs.
  • Must be committed to the enrichment of healthcare programs and student outcomes.
  • Competent in computer skills.
  • Able to incorporate technology into CSC environment.

Education:

  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Current license as an RN in the State of Michigan required.
  • Valid State of Michigan driver's license is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in nursing practice required.
  • Teaching or mentoring experience preferred.
