Senior Accountant

General description and position summary

The Senior Accountant / General Accountant  is responsible for all areas relating to daily/monthly accounting processes. This position will be responsible for ensuring proper classification of assets/liabilities and revenue/expenses in accordance with US GAAP  to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, account reconcilaitions, payroll processing, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecasting activities. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties & Responsibilities

§  Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

§  Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.

§  Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

§  Assist the Controller in the daily banking requirements.

§  Ensure the accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable and Receivables, including but not limited to Cash Collection efforts and invoicing.

§  Process Bi-Weekly payroll.

 

§  Supports budget and forecasting activities.

§  Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

§  Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

§  Responds to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, and other finance and Senior or Executive level management regarding financial results, special reporting requests and other ad-hoc requests.

§  Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.

§  Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA or MBA a plus.

§  Three  to five years of progressive accounting experience in the general ledger area.

§  Experience working in a manufacturing company is preferred.

§  Experience with inventory and costing accounting a plus.

§ Must be PC proficient and have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. EPICOR and Great Plains experience a plus.

§ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
  •  Must posess and be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across functions to accomplish goals and meet overall company objectives.

§ Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
