Research Assistant

The Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan – Michigan Medicine has a full-time temporary position (one-year commitment) available in clinical research beginning May 2018. The position is ideal for students taking a year off between graduation and attending medical school. Pay rate is $12.00 per hour. Job Description

  • Assist with medical literature reviews (PubMed, Web of Science, OVID, etc.)

  • Assist in the management of references (Endnote), scientific manuscript preparation, slide-making (PowerPoint), creation of flow diagrams (Visio), graphs and tables

  • Assist in the coding, cleaning, and management of study data

  • Assist in the recruitment and follow-up of patients for clinical trials research

  • Assist in data collection activities at Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital in labor and delivery rooms, operating rooms, and postoperative anesthesia recovery areas

Desired Qualifications and Work Practices:

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Capacity to manage and coordinate several study-related tasks concurrently

  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients

  • Strong writing skills

  • Detail-oriented approach to work

  • Computer spreadsheet and word-processing skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
