IT Security Manager

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Information, the IT Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the enterprise’s security solutions and establishing an enterprise security stance through policy, architecture and training processes. The IT Security Manager is expected to interface with peers in the Systems and Network departments as well as with the leaders of the business units to both share the corporate security vision with those individuals and to solicit their involvement in achieving higher levels of enterprise security through information sharing and co-operation; ensuring consistency with the company strategy of winning at work, commitments and goals.

 

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 progressive IT security work experience or 6 years IT progressive IT security work experience
  • Must obtain a minimum of two of the following certifications within in first year of employment:
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification
    • GIAC Security Leadership Certification
    • ISACA Certified Information Security Manager
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security
    • (ISC)2 SCCP
    • (ISC)2 CISSP
    • (ISC)2 ISSAP
  • Extensive working experience in enterprise security architecture design
  • Extensive working experience in enterprise security document creation
  • Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols
  • Extensive knowledge of current Windows Sever and Client operating systems
  • Working technical knowledge of Cisco ASA Firewall products
  • Working technical knowledge of Cisco Core Switching products

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

           Strategy & Planning

  1. Create and maintain the enterprise’s security architecture design.

  2. Create, and maintain the enterprise’s security awareness training program.

  3. Create and maintain the enterprise’s security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures).

  4. Create and maintain the enterprise’s Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, where appropriate.

    Acquisition & Deployment

  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

  2. Select and acquire additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security as per the enterprise’s existing procurement processes.

  3. Oversee the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise’s security documents specifically.

     

    Operational Management

  1. Must be able to manage departmental budget and control labor and expenses

  2. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations, servers and other systems and in databases and other data repositories.

  3. Ensure the enforcement of enterprise security documents.

  4. Supervise all investigations into problematic activity and provide on-going communication with senior management.

  5. Supervise the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.

  6. Perform regular security awareness training for all employees to ensure consistently high levels of compliance with enterprise security documents.

  7. Engage in ongoing communications with peers in the Systems and Networking groups as well as the various business groups to ensure enterprise wide understanding of security goals, to solicit feedback and to foster co-operation.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to communicate using written, verbal and computer methods. Must be able to operate computer equipment for extended periods of time. Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel. Must have the ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds routinely. Must have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate all computer/video equipment. Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Office, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke. Extensive computer use. Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any number of hours and/or shift, as assigned, according to business needs. Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals.
