Streaked Horned Lark Technician

Technician will work on a Streaked Horned Lark Conspecific Attraction study to attract larks displaced by human activities to restored sites, in coordination with the Institute for Applied Ecology and American Bird Conservancy. Field work will involve using call playback devices and decoys, conducting lark pair and nest monitoring, as well as vegetation surveys of study sites. Technician will work closely with Matt Bahm (IAE) and Bob Altman (ABC) at the beginning of the project to become familiar with monitoring techniques and equipment use. Position requires ability to work in a team environment, but will advance quickly to have a high level of independence. Technician will work with program staff to manage field trip logistics, lead field work, assist in data management, and will also be expected to contribute to project reports. Technician will also be trained in identification and sampling methods for the endangered Fender’s Blue Butterfly, and conduct limited sampling during early portion of position (approx. 6 days). Position is based in Corvallis, Oregon.

START DATE: early March (some flexibility)
END DATE: late August

COMPENSATION: $16-17/hr depending on experience. Housing in Corvallis is not provided. This is a full-time, seasonal position with no benefits
