Housing Resource Specialist

This person has the responsibility to provide a community assessment after an intake done by Housing Access of Washtenaw County (HAWC). The assessment will be done on individual adults who are at high risk of homelessness or who are literally homeless.

Hours are M-F 10:30 am - 7:00 pm, with occasional weekends and holidays.

General Responsibilities:

1. Will be a part of, and trained by, the Housing Access Lead Agency and cross trained to provide assessments to individuals and families. Will support this team and will be mobile when necessary to complete assessments or assist with screenings.

2. Do Community HAWC assessments and referrals

3. Triage and assess walk-in clients for needs and challenges; obtain a HAWC screening and provide an assessment.

4. Refer to SAWC Delonis Center and TSA Staple Center Shelters when necessary and appropriate; maintain a list of service clients needing Rapid Rehousing and/or shelter.

5. Understand and utilize community resources, as appropriate to client needs and make referrals; and determine appropriate SAWC services and referrals.

6. Coordinate with Case Management and Medical teams.

7. Do real-time data entries in HMIS system to ensure that client information and case record are complete and up-to-date.

8. Perform other assignments as directed by members of the management team; respond to community requests from The Salvation Army in their role as lead agency for the HAWC.

9. Assist with Front Desk Coverage and Community Meal dining room monitoring,

10. Assist where necessary with the orderly running of the Shelter facility.
