JOB PURPOSE:

Direct and implement the vision, strategy, and management of the Information Technology Development department with an emphasis on software application development. Ensure optimum customer satisfaction, employee productivity, and company profitability.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead, develop, and manage all areas of IT software development and third party software integration and administration.
  • Lead the formation and ongoing adjustment of the System Development Life Cycle including: software requirements, development methods, releases, unit testing and ongoing software maintenance.
  • Provide leadership to employees of the IT Development department.
  • Develop and implement long-range strategies, goals and action plans to meet business application software objectives. Research new software development approaches and technology in the industry and evaluate potential methods for achieving more efficiency or greater productivity.
  • Align the development resources to the strategic objectives of the company and the IT Department.
  • Develop and publish quarterly software development roadmaps and successfully deliver on those development commitments through regular communication and consensus building with the various Midco departments.
  • Form partnerships with the Director of IT Enterprise Architecture and Director of IT Operations. Communicate the run time environment requirements for software being transitioned into operations and adopt operating ITIL process for software incidents, problems, change release and the data and systems architecture plans developed from partnership.
  • Provide innovative software to the company that demonstrates leadership in our industry.
  • Actively participate in the annual budget process.
  • Foster positive communication and relationships between teams and across organizational boundaries.
  • Empower team members and provide them with the information, tools, and skills needed to be successful.
  • Communicate with other departments to handle any escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • Possess a strong, in-depth background, and comprehension of Midco systems and networks.
  • Provide timely performance feedback and daily coaching. Perform annual reviews and effectively manage disciplinary and/or performance problems.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Midco privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
  • Be willing and able to travel in accordance with Midcontinent’s “Use of Vehicle for Company Business” policy.
  • Maintain regular attendance to be available to provide direction and communication to team members.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters in Computer Science or Business Management preferred.
  • Minimum of five years managerial experience in Information Technology or related field required.
  • Minimum of seven years of software development experience required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 35 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
