We are looking for a DevOps System Engineer (University Grad) to join the DevOps team in Austin, TX

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role offers a Dev ops Engineer an opportunity to build and support web based enterprise systems, applications and solutions, including development architecture, designing tools, or platforms. You will be involved in all aspects of Live Systems Operations and development (including Linux based systems, Cloud computing, Core Java, JavaScript Frameworks and other Enterprise Technologies) working closely with a talented pool of engineers and be a true partner in defining the solutions in furthering the products and business.

 

What a DevOps Systems Engineer does at EA:

 

  • Supports the current online gaming infrastructure by deploying Online and Live game features. Maintains virtual game online infrastructure environment.
  • Works with local and remote Web, Server Side, and Software developers to investigate and design future gaming online infrastructures in support of new game features.
  • Responds to outages and alerts quickly to ensure public availability of our online services.
  • Refines processes to develop a culture of quality and high availability.
  • Automates processes to increase efficiencies wherever possible.
  • Helps architect and implement solutions that solve complicated application challenges around performance, scaling, and security.
  • Instrument monitoring solutions to gain insight into application performance and understand emerging issues.
  • Maintains deployment software and tools (Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, etc.) Work closely with developers to ensure on time delivery of services.
  • Participates in 24x7 on-call support and maintenance activities.

 

Our next DevOps Systems Engineer shall have:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Linux Systems Engineering or Admin experience
  • Experience with AWS or Cloud based computing
  • Understanding of application and operational Monitoring – experience with tools like Graphite, Nagios is a plus
  • Understanding of middleware, proxies and application integration.
  • Understanding of Content Distribution Network services and configurations.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience or understanding of dev ops technologies: Docker, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins
  • Understanding of databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB etc.)
  • Understanding of networking (load balancing, TCP/IP, Virtual IP, SSL Certificates etc.)
