Ergonomics Specialist

This could be your ideal job if you are excited about ergonomics and have 1-3 years experience in ergo and other general EHS&S, and are interested in the dynamic world of consulting. You should have a degree (MS preferred) in Ergonomics (Human Factors / Ergonomics, Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, or related field). In this role you will be working either on site at one of our client locations as an extension of their EHS&S organization and/or working on a variety of consulting projects form BSI’s office located in San Jose, Alameda or San Bruno, CA. Projects are variable and challenging.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strengths in one or more of the following areas:

  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations in office, lab, industrial, health care environments either independently or with support from more experienced consultants, and implement equipment and furniture recommendations
  • Schedule evaluations and working with client employees directly in a professional manner.
  • Provide employee education and coaching in safe work practices to prevent injury and illness.
  • Recognize potential injury claims and educate employees on the injury reporting process
  • Perform chair fittings
  • Alternative input device selection: Meet with employees to review workstation configurations and new ergonomic accessories (e.g., alternative keyboard and mice)
  • Ergonomic software management and data analysis
  • Support ergonomic program development
  • Health and safety code compliance
  • Developing and delivering EHS/Occupational Health and Safety training
  • EHS assessments/general program compliance audits
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Occupational safety surveys/inspections
  • Writing technical reports

Ideally you will have 1-3 years of experience including:

  • Conducting ergonomic evaluations in multiple industries and disciplines.
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Working knowledge of global ergonomic regulations and standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to gather and organize data from multiple sources
  • Ability to plan and implement projects
  • May be required to work with or in an environment that contains chemicals or hazardous materials
  • Basic computer skills, with experience in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with 3DSSPP, Snook Tables, NIOSH Lifting Equation, HumanCAD
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or AEP/CPE Eligible Preferred
  • CIE or other ergonomic certifications will be considered
