The Angela Wilkins Residency Based Graduate Program
The Carroll School, a pioneer in educating children with dyslexia, collaborates with Lesley University and Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (BB&N) in two dynamic Master’s Degree Programs that offer:
- Collaboration with experienced mentor teachers
- Preparation in teaching at two exceptional schools
- Daily immersion in practical application
- Orton-Gillingham Training
- Participation in Carroll Cognitive Development Program
- Exposure to Carroll School professional development seminars and speakers
The program is named in honor of Angela Wilkins, a long-time leader in the field of remediation of reading disabilities, who brought this program of graduate studies to Carroll School. Carroll’s program combines with a similar program in general education at BB&N to form a comprehensive set of course and internship opportunities.
By participating in this school-based internship program, you will earn a Master’s Degree in education leading to initial licensure for teachers of students with moderate disabilities. You will also receive Orton-Gillingham training at no additional cost.

- A passion for teaching children who learn differently
- Clear organizational and time management skills
- Passing all MTELS.
- Working with a mentor teacher in the classroom each day.
- Responsibilities will range from observations to running a morning meeting to teaching multiple periods to teaching a full day and then consecutive days.
- Attending and completing graduate coursework at Carroll and Lesley.
