SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
The primary function of the
Senior Accountant is to support the Controller and the Accounting Manager(s)
with financial analysis and support for all inventory accounting and costing,
including inventory related reserves. Additional responsibilities include
leading the month-end close process, daily cash transactional activities and
tax compliance work. This role will also help develop reporting through the use
of automated tools (Spreadsheet Server), calculate miscellaneous monthly accounting
reserves, and prepare ad-hoc reporting and analysis. Detailed responsibilities
include but are not limited to the following:

• Calculate detailed monthly inventory
obsolescence reserve for total company. Prepare monthly inventory obsolescence
provision.
• Manage product standard costs within SAP based
on global transfer pricing issued by parent company.
• Coordinate and run the annual physical
inventory and periodic cycle count process at all inventory locations.
• Prepare and distribute monthly inventory
reports both internally and to parent company.
• Lead and coordinate the month-end close
process ensuring all standard journal entries have been submitted and posted.
• Prepare and record all daily cash origination,
cash verification, payment processing and cash-related activity, working
closely with US and Canadian (CAD) bank vendors.
• Review periodic sales and use tax returns
working closely with 3rd party tax preparers in US and other countries.
• Maintain sales and use tax returns and
supporting documentation. Assist with sales tax audits, as required.
• Responsible for the Vertex and SAP maintenance
related to sales and use tax filings.
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting support
for external and internal audits.
• Support Financial Monitoring, Japan’s version
of Sarbanes Oxley (J-SOX) and other internal control testing as required for
areas of responsibility.
• Perform other tasks / projects as required by
supervisor.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in
Accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Financial
Accounting.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including
intermediate to expert Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver
results.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving
skills.
• Outgoing, enthusiastic, confident and
motivated professional.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet
deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
• Ability to interact with NEC Executive and
Management.
• Experience with SAP or other large ERP
systems.
• CPA is a definite plus
