Elementary Principal

Lake City Area Schools have posted the following administration opening: 

Elementary Principal 

This position requires the skills necessary to collaborate and innovate. The instructional leader of this elementary school will be leading children from K – 5th grade. They will be the first interaction with our parent community and will be expected to foster a love of learning in our children and a climate of parent involvement. This individual needs to be highly articulate in best practices surrounding elementary teaching and learning and have a deep understanding of best practices in reading and math instruction. We are looking for a team player who demonstrates not only passion and commitment to the role of instructional leader, but who is committed to developing a team of teachers who are able to collectively and collaboratively make a difference in the student’s long-term educational outcomes.  

Preferred Requirements:

  • MA in Educational Leadership or related area

  • Michigan Administrator Certification

  • 3 years successful teaching experience and leading in a K-5 building, which included a Title I program

Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Be an effective communicator with staff, students, parents and community

  • Experience with student success and behavior management systems

  • Experience with State and Federal Grants

  • Use of data to drive instruction

  • Ability to collaborate with Instructional Coaches

  • Evaluate performance of teachers, programs, and staff using required evaluation tools (currently Danielson)
